TAMS Academic Society is an advised, student-led club at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science dedicated towards fostering an environment in which students are able to thrive academically. We provide study materials and academic help through subject-specific committees as well as peer tutoring. We also focus on promoting education in our community through volunteering committees and even raise awareness worldwide by hosting the TAMS chapter of She's the First, an international nonprofit dedicated to educating girls in low-income countries. Finally, we offer opportunities for students to challenge themselves through a variety of competitions and contests throughout the year.

HST is a HOPE xTAS committee focused on helping local Denton high school students with STEM-related curriculum. TAMS volunteers will each be paired with a student from one of these high schools and will work with them on whatever academic help they need. If you enjoy teaching or want to try out the experience, High School Tutoring is the committee for you.
Welcome to the Biology Committee! As you’ll soon know, biology will be one of the most information-heavy classes this year. Often times you’ll find the lecture may not be adequate, so you will have to study on your own time from the textbook. But fear not! The Biology TAS Committee is here to help you. We provide many resources, ranging from tutors to our online resources (diagrams, practice questions, concise reviews, videos, memorization tools, and more, all of which can be found conveniently in the TAS Biology Google Drive Folder). However, do note that the best way to study for a majority of the Biology exams is to go through the lecture notes and textbook and, occasionally, by using the in-class powerpoint. These materials are meant to be a supplement or reinforcement of concepts but not your main study tool for the exams.
The TAMS Chemistry Committee is a committee under TAS (TAMS Academic Society) that is dedicated to helping all juniors succeed in chemistry at TAMS. We have separate resources and review sessions for Honors and General Chemistry, so be sure to check them out! Through our group tutoring and comprehensive review sessions, we provide students with the tools they need to thrive in their chemistry classes.
The Computer Science Committee is dedicated to helping students taking CS at TAMS succeed academically through ensuring comprehension of course information and provision of related supplementary materials. We facilitate one on one tutoring and assistance by pairing students up with our volunteer tutors who are all experienced in resolving any CS related issues. We will also host review sessions for every test and assignment where the committee heads will be going over general topics and providing an overview of important concepts. Finally, we'll be providing detailed notes / videos on the various topics in CS, as well as encouragement to not give up (as you will need during your second semester of CS).
The Math Committee is devoted to giving TAMS students an edge in their rigorous college mathematics courses through a series of practical math resources. A handpicked selection of tutors who have taken the course provide consistent help through one-on-one sessions, allowing for deeper understanding of the material; additionally, past tests and textbook problems ease the transition into college-level testing, which can be very different from regular high school. Our head tutors are dedicated to answering any math questions students may have through test review sessions and giving them full preparation for challenging exams. We have various committees for:
Iaia Precal/Cal 1
Hanson (replacement) Precal/Cal 1
Mann Cal 1/2
Tran (Replacement) Cal 1/2
Higher Maths
Welcome to the TAMS Physics Committee!! We are excited to work with y'all to help you succeed in physics and show you the beauty of physics. We will hold review sessions before exams and offer one-on-one tutoring. If you want to grind physics outside of the classroom, we will hold practice sessions for F=ma and the Princeton University Physics Competition.
Academic competitions are an important part of the TAMS experience, and in order to get the most out of these competitions, TAS's Competitions Committee helps students learn beyond the classroom by hosting review sessions, compiling resources, and helping students get to know various competition formats. Our committee heads are dedicated to helping each and every student excel and win awards at competitions about any subject. This year, the Committee heads plan on helping students prepare for the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO), USA Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO), history competitions, and literature competitions.
